Taipei, Taiwan – September 17th, 2026 – SP Industrial today announced the launch of its new eMMC 5.1 Series, expanding its embedded storage portfolio with compact, reliable solutions designed for space-constrained and power-conscious industrial systems.

As industrial and embedded devices become increasingly compact and connected, system designers need storage solutions that deliver dependable performance while minimizing PCB space and power consumption. By integrating NAND Flash and a controller into a single package, eMMC provides a space-efficient storage architecture well suited for embedded systems requiring reliable, low-power operation and long-term storage.

Flexible Storage for Different Workloads

The new SP Industrial eMMC 5.1 Series includes the EMC3R0N and EMC5R0N, giving system designers flexibility to select storage based on capacity and workload requirements.

The EMC3R0N is available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB capacities and uses TLC NAND with up to 3,000 program/erase (PE) cycles, making it well suited for general-purpose embedded storage. For applications with more intensive write requirements, the 16GB EMC5R0N uses pSLC technology to provide up to 30,000 PE cycles, offering significantly enhanced endurance for frequent data-writing workloads.

Both series feature a compact BGA153 package and support sequential read/write speeds of up to 250/200 MB/s, with random read/write performance of up to 3,800/5,500 IOPS.[1] Support for SDR and DDR transfer modes at clock frequencies up to 200MHz enables efficient data transfer for a range of embedded workloads. Their integrated architecture helps simplify storage implementation while making efficient use of limited board space.

Built for Reliable Embedded Operation

The SP Industrial eMMC 5.1 Series is JEDEC eMMC 5.1 compliant and incorporates features designed to support data integrity, storage visibility, and reliable system operation. A built-in SMART function enables storage health and usage monitoring, while an LDPC ECC engine helps protect data integrity. Built-in power-failure data protection further helps safeguard stored data during unexpected power interruptions.

The series also supports Erase, Trim, and Sanitize commands, helping system designers manage storage and maintain performance over the product lifecycle. With support for 3.3V and 1.8V dual-voltage power supplies and an operating temperature range of -25°C to 85°C, the series is designed to meet the requirements of a wide range of embedded environments.

Supporting Industrial and Smart Applications

The compact form factor and integrated design make SP Industrial eMMC suitable for applications where reliable storage must fit within limited space. Potential applications include credit card readers, payment terminals, POS systems, HMIs, industrial PCs, and industrial controllers, as well as industrial cameras and surveillance systems where local storage is required.

The series can also support IoT gateways, edge computing devices, and smart equipment, providing dependable local storage for operating systems, application software, configuration data, system logs, and other frequently accessed information. For systems with heavier write workloads, the enhanced endurance of the EMC5R0N provides an additional option for applications that continuously update or record data.

With the launch of the EMC3R0N and EMC5R0N, SP Industrial expands its embedded storage offering with solutions that combine compact integration, reliable operation, and workload-specific endurance, helping system designers address the evolving storage requirements of industrial and edge applications.
