Write Protect

Write Protect can prevent important data stored inside an SSD from being tampered with or deleted by mistake. During Write Protect mode, only reading is allowed; writing and deleting are both prohibited. Write Protect mode can be activated through software or hardware settings, without installing drivers, and can operate independently on the host’s OS.

To enable Write Protect mode from hardware settings, change the position of the GPIO Pin connected to the SSD via the jumper or the switch. To enable Write Protect mode from software settings, issue the Vendor command to the SSD via the host’s OS.

Once Write Protect mode is enabled, no write-in commands will be written to the NAND Flash. Instead, the SSD background write-in function will sustain its operations and temporarily store data in the controller’s RAM to allow the system to run smoothly and maintain the integrity of the data in the NAND Flash. When the system is restarted, all temporarily stored data will disappear.
