TBW

  • # SSDs

What is TBW?

TBW (Terabytes Written). TBW refers to the total amount of data that can be written to an SSD over its lifetime, measured in terabytes. It's a key indicator of an SSD's endurance and lifespan.

Simply Put:

Think of TBW as a car's mileage limit. Just like a car can only drive so many miles before parts wear out, an SSD can only write a certain amount of data before it starts aging. Some SSDs are like cars that go 200,000 miles while others can reach 300,000, depending on the model. Hitting the TBW limit does not mean the SSD will suddenly fail, but it suggests the drive is nearing the end of its reliable lifespan.
