Armor A10 Won the Silver Award of Innovation at 2010 National Invention Award Ceremony for its Excellence in Performance and Innovation.
The National Invention Award 2010, hosted by the Intellectual Property Office, MOEA, Taiwan, announced the winners this afternoon (8/12). Among all participants, SILICON POWER Product Design Team won the Silver Award of Innovation with the patent “Portable Hard Drive Casing” of Armor A10. Our team was commended by Mr. Cheng Chih-Hua, Undersecretary of the Intellectual Property Office, and done an amusing interview by media, throwing Armor A10 on the spot to show off its shockproof capability!
Asked about the secrets of this HDD’s shockproof ability, SILICON POWER replied that Armor A10 is built with rubber casing in order to increase friction with any slippery surface. There are several wavy grooves on its sides for users to better hold the HDD, preventing it from falling off users’ hands. These features carry SILICON POWER’s consideration and ingenuity in ergonomics design. In addition, the HDD adopts not only the shock-absorbent rubber material but also an impact-resistant mechanism. Overall, Armor A10 passed the cruel drop test of U.S. Military Standard, MIL-STD 810F 516.5 procedure IV (transit drop test). Even though it is dropped from a height of 122 cm, users don’t have to worry about data loss. Armor A10 is definitely a necessity for those often away on official business to store crucial data!
SILICON POWER Portable Hard Drive Armor A10 launched in 2009, and soon found favor by numerous users from over 40 countries, including Taiwan, Europe, America, Middle East and India. Its appearance and features earned above-average rating from IT media worldwide, such as Digital Media Portal in Russia, My Computer Magazine in Belarus, SVM and Personal Computer Magazine in France, CHIP Magazine in Romania, PC World in Turkey, etc. Armor A10’s shockproof ability was even proved by a number of professional editors, and won several recommendation, such as Quality/Price Award (from French PC weekly Micro Hebdo), Recommendation Award (from Spanish IT website for gamers Noticias3D), Gold Award (from one of the biggest PC magazines in Indonesia InfoKomputer), and Silver Award (from professional IT media HWM Malaysia and HWM Philippines).
To encourage invention and innovation research and to facilitate progress of industrial technology in Taiwan, the National Invention Award Program was started in 2004 and carried out for almost 7 years. This year, the Intellectual Property Office, MOEA, invited 33 experts with industrial, academic, and administrative backgrounds to join the Selection Committee. Armor A10 stood out in a series of competitions among more than 200 pieces of work, reflecting our Product Design Team’s persistence and achievement in design innovation. SILICON POWER commits that we will continuously invest in design innovation and become a pioneer in storage fashion.
